Membership
New members of the St. Louis Film Critics must be recommended by a current
association member, be approved by the membership committee, meet
membership criteria (see below) and be approved by a vote of the
current membership. Student reviewers at the college level are allowed.
Potential members may be disqualified for membership if a current
member raises
an objection based on unethical conduct.
Membership Criteria
Each association member must:
- Be a working film critic reviewing for
a public outlet in print, TV, radio or website;
- Be recognized by
local film promotion agencies by inclusion in their invitations
to press screenings;
- Write an average of 18 full film reviews a
year of current films released in theaters or on DVD;
- Two capsule reviews (100 words or less) equal a full review
- Reviews must discuss the artistic values and quality of the film.

A member may be asked to leave the association if the members vote for
removal based on ethical violations, or if the member ceases to be a
working critic for one year. |
